It also differs from conventional flights. Agatti has Lakshadweep's only commercial airport with regular Kochi flights, but Agatti is just one island. The published timetable runs one daily circuit (except Tuesdays): Kochi departs in the morning, works through the islands via Kavaratti as the hub, and returns to Kochi in the late afternoon. Kochi in Kerala is the mainland departure point; Kalpeni is the mainland landing island. Kavaratti — the administrative capital — is the central hub for the inter-island legs.

On the published timetable, the direct scheduled mainland sector is Kochi to Kalpeni. Kavaratti, Kadmat and Agatti are reached the same day as connections through Kalpeni and Kavaratti. Conventional flights between Kochi and Agatti are the most established air connection to Lakshadweep. Seaplanes become more relevant when you need to reach islands beyond Agatti — Kalpeni, Kavaratti, Kadmat — without long boat transfers, or when you want to combine multiple islands in one trip. Every visitor to Lakshadweep — Indian nationals and foreign tourists — needs an entry permit issued by the Lakshadweep Administration. Best Time for Lakshadweep Seaplane Travel

The typical tourism season runs from October to May, when seas are generally calmer and weather more predictable. This is also when demand is highest — enquire early if you plan travel between December and March.

The monsoon period (roughly June to September) brings heavier rain and rougher seas. Seaplane operations are more likely to be affected during this time. Ship services also reduce frequency in monsoon. If you must travel in monsoon, build extra buffer days and have backup transport options discussed with your travel coordinator.

Seaplane Schedule and Timings

The operator has published a timetable for 18 September to 14 October 2026, with fixed departure and arrival times for every sector and no service on Tuesdays. The 18 and 19 September timings differ from the settled daily circuit that runs from 20 September onward. Even so, do not plan tight connections — such as a seaplane arrival on the same afternoon as a ship departure — without buffer, because weather can still delay or cancel a sector on the day.

Combining Seaplane with Ship or Flight

Many itineraries mix transport modes. Common combinations include:

• Seaplane in, ship out — faster arrival, economical return
• Flight to Agatti, seaplane between islands — established air entry with seaplane island-hopping
• Ship to one island, seaplane between islands — budget mainland entry with faster inter-island transfers
